大聯盟例行賽季於下周一落幕同時，馬林魚也將改朝換代，前洋基隊長基特（Derek Jeter）與紐約金融家薛爾曼（Bruce Sherman）成為新任老闆，而現任總裁塞森（David Samson）已經接獲通知，要他打包走人。
馬林魚今天回到主場展開與勇士的4連戰，塞森也在球場內召開記者會，與媒體暢談這16年來擔任球團總裁的心情，他表示，「我希望能有個機會告訴球迷和這座城市，能在這裡服務16年，這是多大的榮耀。」
羅瑞亞（Jeffrey Loria）在2002年以1.58億美元買下馬林魚，如今以12億美元脫手，而球隊在他擔任老闆期間，共有11季勝率未達5成，僅於2003年進入世界大賽，球星一打出身價，就放上談判桌傾銷的案例太多，也因此當地球迷對他向來沒有多少好評。
儘管如此，塞森今天在記者會上大力讚揚他的老闆，「如果沒有羅瑞亞，在邁阿密就不會有棒球。」他也指出，「這幾年來，我們發生了很多不幸的事情。」包括票房成績低落、團隊薪資有限、球隊戰績不佳，以及王牌投手費南德茲（Jose Fernandez）在去年船難過世等。
談到長期居於後段班的票房數字，他說：「我不怪球迷，我怪我自己，沒能為球迷帶來他們想要的，我們在馬林魚球場從未看過的畫面，就是持續贏球。」
經歷過馬林魚這幾年的不如意，對於下一任經營者，將給怎樣的建議？塞森說，「需要一點點的好運，也需要完全的冷靜，讓人們對領導階層產生信心。」他坦言，「球迷希望看到改變嗎？應該是吧。」
塞森也在記者會上證實，「若能與新老闆一起工作會很開心，因為我對他們有信心，但在討論球隊交易的過程中，從未討論過此事。」塞森已接獲離職通知，下周一就是他在馬林魚的最後一天。
